FOLKS & BEANS

Location: Lviv, Ukraine
Total area: 54 m²
Architects: Yuriy Salabay, Andrii Diedyk, Andrii Lutsenko

Folks & Beans cafe is located in the historical area of Lviv old town. It occupies the first floor of a building from the beginning of the 20th century, which combined the styles of Art Nouveau and Neoclassicism.
Just like a century ago, when it housed Kurek’s candy shop, Folks & Beans offers visitors a space to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy light meals, coffee and home-made desserts.
In contrast to the facade of the house, the interior concept is modern and is based on a combination of natural materials and graphic silhouettes of iconic furniture and lamps.
Upon entering the place, the visitor enters a space with a concrete floor and walls in rough lime-cement plaster, which create a monolithic background for furniture and decor. The bar counter in a contrasting color becomes a visual accent of the interior and its shape directs visitors to the second hall of the cafe, where the entrances to the kitchen and the cozy courtyard of the building with a summer terrace are hidden behind the glass wall structure.
